Details of the Mark II Nitix-powered Net Integrator

Nitix powered file servers provide seamless back end Windows networking support in a workgroup and/or domain environment utilizing the more powerful and stable Linux operating system (OS). Being based on the mature Unix OS, Linux is a very powerful, stable, and secure multi-user/multi-tasking system. Windows borne virus's have no effect.

Data protection is the most important function of any file server. The most common backup system in use today is the tape drive. Nitix does not use this type of backup. Net Integration (the designer of Nitix) has created the Intelligent Disk Backup (IDB) system. Complete server backups are maintained on hot-swappable hard disks with backups being run as frequently as every 15 minutes! IDB drives can be swapped 'hot' without affecting server operation and can be stored off premise protecting the company from a possible catastrophic event.

Corrupted operating system is not an issue. The entire OS is stored in solid state memory, not in a bunch of files on the hard drive. Boot time is quick and the OS is protected. The hard drive maintains only one system file which contains the user configurations specific to the server and is backed up to the IDB.

The Mark II does not need a monitor, keyboard, nor mouse. Configuration is done through the network using any web browser. No need for a UPS (battery backup) to protect against OS file corruption caused by faulty patch updates or improper system shutdown. The Linux based Reiserfs journaled file system will not corrupt itself even if the power cord is pulled while the system is actively storing files. Try that with the “other guy's” operating system.

OS updates are provided to add features and functionality, and are NOT just to PATCH problems. Updates are scheduled and consist of complete OS updates taking just a few minutes via high speed Internet access (RoadRunner, DSL, etc).

Net Integration's ExchangeIt provides Microsoft Exchange-like back end support for MS Outlook. This includes email, inter office mail, calendaring, and group scheduling.

The Nitix Mark II Net Integrator provides:

      1. Email and web services

      2. File and print services

      3. File storage

      4. Continuous IDB backup

      5. Real-time recovery

      6. Remote Access Server for configuration and system monitoring

      7. Router / Gateway for Internet, foreign network connection

      8. WAN access firewall using 127 separate rules for network protection

      9. Virtual Private Network server for remote network access and server configuration

      10. Redundant Internet connectivity
